Experience Design & Strategy

For nearly two decades, I’ve transformed ideas into something substantial. I’m not afraid of a blank page or a complicated problem space - my diverse design and research background has made me comfortable with ambiguity and efficient at diving into discovery.

I guide successful outcomes through strategic collaboration and expert facilitation. My superpowers include drawing out research and evidence driven insights in order to align stakeholders, identify impact, and create outcome driven roadmaps to valuable solutions.

How I Do It

User Research

Conducting a contextual inquiry to assess value

Sales leadership heard from multiple internal teams that a public facing product wasn’t as easy to sell as initially assumed. Through a series of contextual interviews, I discovered that despite high revenue generation and public popularity, inadequate communication between business systems and high touch point sales tactics drove down ROI. I combined a careful assessment of alternatives with my findings and presented leadership with opportunities for the future of the product.

Sticky notes with interview insights

Discovery & Alignment

Bridging the divide between daily tasks and aspirational goals

An overly complicated execution of a great idea prevented expert consultants from showcasing their valuable insights. Through stakeholder alignment exercises and a series of user interviews, I unlocked research driven insights in order to outline a roadmap for an MVP that enables their experts to focus on their strengths and extend their client engagements. The product launched in Q1 of 2024.

Product Design

Bringing experts and families together in a mobile app

In 2023, Fayette County Public Schools launched an initiative to address low kindergarten readiness levels in their community. Early childhood educators in Lexington, KY had a wealth of knowledge but lacked the ability to share their resources with busy parents and caregivers. Working closely with these experts, I designed a native mobile app that enables educators to provide resources for parents, age specific events, and activities that encourage families to learn and grow together. Download from the App Store or Google Play.

Why I Do It

Prior to flipping the switch to digital products in 2021, I designed and created physical products physical products: ergonomic mascots, costumes, and art that educated and delighted adults and children in public spaces such as historic theaters, ball parks, and museums. More than just building appealing companies, products, and services, I believe in empowering communities through research driven collaborative design.

I contribute to the design community through mentorship, speaking engagements, and leadership in local groups. I recently served as Treasurer of UXPA MN, a vibrant association of UX professionals at all stages of their careers.

If you're someone who wants to explore a career in UX, a designer looking for an empathetic ear, or even someone who just wants to talk through a problem space, please reach out.
